12/12 of #top12 #2025 Building Stronger Families Through Coffee and Self-Help, Wayanad, Kerala
I got inspired, so I decided to select my Top 12 photos of 2025. Some of them I selected because I liked the photo, and others because of the experience of taking them, but for all of them it is a way to remember some of the places I have visited and, mostly, the people I have met along the way.
Hand in Hand India runs the India Coffee Climate Resilient Landscape project in Wayanad, Kerala, working with small-scale farmers and self-help groups to build more sustainable and resilient coffee farming. I was given the opportunity to document this work, made possible by Nils Garcia-Grundström at Hand in Hand Sweden, Steffin Srampickal, Abuthahir S, and Josephine Beula in India, and by my employer Frontit, who sponsors Hand in Hand's work. Here, a woman carefully sorts through freshly harvested robusta beans by hand, removing anything that doesn't meet quality.
Most importantly, my deepest appreciation goes to the coffee and honey farmers who welcomed a stranger with a camera into their workdays. They didn't just tolerate being photographed; they opened up their farms, explained their practices, answered endless questions, and trusted me to represent their work honestly. That generosity and openness made all the difference. I hope the images honour what you do.
