8/12 of #top12 Man Working on a Fishing Basket Trap Foto: Jens Hauser
I got inspired so I thought of selecting my Top 12 photos of 2017. Some of them I selected because I liked the photo and others the experience in taking them but for all of them it is a way to remember some of the places I have visited but mostly the people I have met.
My eight photo is of a man sitting on a jetty weaving a fishing trap the traditional way along the Kinabatangan River, Sabah, Malaysia. He cuts bamboo sticks into smaller and thinner sticks and then plaits them together. Depending on the size he wants to catch he leaves gaps so the smaller fish can escape. I spend some time talking to the man and found out that it is not that different from how we used traps in Sweden for the family fishing a couple of decades ago.
My special thanks go to all the staff at the Eco Camp, Borneo, Malaysia for making my stay there as pleasant as possible.
